Been making some good sounds with the Monoment Bass from Softube.
well-crafted stereo samples; taken from unique, high quality synths, processed through the finest boutique gear.
synth workflow with filters, envelopes and modulation, all easily accessible and adjustable.
The user interface consists of four parts:1. Source section, where you select different sound sources2. Filter and LFO section, where you set the cut-off frequency of the filter, or use filter modulation to automatically change filter cut-off3. Tone, where you balance your sources and set the punchiness of the sound.4. Effects, the place for distortion, reverb, EQ, com-pression and spatialization.
The Source section’s main purpose is to select the sources that are the foundation of the bass sound. Source A and Source B with Analog Dirt source sampled and used as a source of noise and flaw sounds, to run through the filter section to recreate the mood and feel of an analog bass sound. Controls are Aging: for analog artifacts and Source Mix for and Source Mix: for the mix level between source A and source B.
Source A, Source B
Sets the octave (-1, 0, +1) for the second source.DetuneDetunes the second source.
Analog dirt, sets the sound of the analog dirt.
Choose between noise sources and different attack sounds.
Dirt to filterEngage if you want the analog dirt to be filtered by the same filter as source a and b.
Otherwise it will go directly to the effects section.
Use Crossover Frequency to separate the Source A and B at a specific Bass/Treble point.
Glide type sets the type of glide or porta-mento.
Always on: the note’s pitch will always glide between the former and the current note.
Legato: the note will only glide when you play legato.
eg. fingered glide, or auto glide.
Glide time is the amount of time it takes for the glide to reach the target note. At its minimum position (0.0), the glide funtion is OFF.
Punch: Sets the shape, the envelope, of the sound. At 12 o’clock it doesn’t do anything. Increase for sharp attacks.
Release: Sets the time it takes for the note to fade out.
Aging: Sets the amount of unpredictability in Monoment Bass. More: less stable pitch, unpredictable attacks, dirt and grit.
Volume: Sets the final output volume.
Filter envelope type
Envelope Type and Amount
Filter Envelope Type “slow rise” to “fast close”
Filter type: 6db/Oct, 12 and 24db.
LFO on / off
LFO Rise = start point of LFO
LFO Amount and Shape
Sync = tempo synced LFO
LFO / DAW Speed: in Seconds or Beats.
Drive: Distortion |”Trans F” low frequency roar or “Modern” full band distort.
Ambience = reverb; Spacialisation = spacial bass effect, stereo spread.
Dry/Wet: Mix of the two.
Ambience Type: Neutral = natural; Electric short, 80s; Metal = Metallic; Rusty = old style, pitch shift, vintage; Dirty ReverbVintage verb with dirty sounding stomps.
The EQ in Monoment Bass is an extremely powerful two-knob algorithm. Tilt control is used to shape the character, and
Bass is for making it sit in the mix.
Compression: Multiband , amount and Mid frequency gain reduction, with high frequency reduction.
